Privacy Policy

The short version

Bolo Clear has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your practice progress stays on your own phone or computer. Your voice is never uploaded or stored by us.

What is stored, and where

Your language choice, test scores, practice streak and lesson progress are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app deletes them.

Microphone and speech checking

When you tap the microphone button, the app asks for microphone permission. Your speech is turned into text by the speech recognition service built into your browser or phone (for example, Google in Chrome and Android, or Apple in Safari). That service is run by those companies under their own privacy policies. Bolo Clear only receives the resulting text to compare it with the practice word, and does not keep it.

Record yourself

If you use Record yourself, the recording is kept only in your phone's memory so you can play it back. It is never uploaded, and it is deleted when you move to another card or close the app.

Voice playback

The American pronunciations are played by the text-to-speech voice already on your device. No audio is downloaded from us.

Visitor counts

We may count page visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly service that uses no cookies and collects no personal information. It tells us how many people visit, not who they are.

Purchases

If you buy Bolo Clear Plus or Pro, payment is handled by Gumroad. We never see your card details. Paid plans have a 30-day money-back promise.

Children

Bolo Clear is a general-audience learning tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
